Ada Valladares

About

Ada Valladares began writing poetry in 2018 when she was 14. Already she has recognition for her work which focuses on themes of identity and diversity. As an accomplished musician she often pairs piano instrumental with her spoken work. “My family is such a diverse blend of Black, White, Quechua, and Native American it has always been near impossible to tell people, when they ask where I am from. Not only has that common question made me try and answer, the attempt has also taken me beyond the question it to a place where it seems to me that no one is from anywhere.” Bi-lingual: English; Spanish. Some work also in Arabic.

Connection to Glasgow

Ada is presently based in Spain but has strong family connections with Glasgow as her grandmother, aunt and uncle live in the city.
