Allan says, "I wasted my time at school. But I occasionally had encouraging feedback from English teachers that I had some talent. At the time I didn't really believe them, but I enjoying writing. Later on in life I find it really inspiring. Meeting other writers has been a great experience and helps motivation."

Born in and brought up in Glasgow, Allan worked in numerous boring jobs, but re-discovered his inner creativity later on in life.
