Jennifer McCormack

About

Aged 11 Jennifer McCormack was one of the young poets of the year and went to Ayrshire to read her work. She studied literature, continued writing, and recently began being published. Her stories are written with periodic line breaks (and stories without). Examples of her published work can be found in Amsterdam Review, NWS 42, Lacuna Zine, and Ordkonst (Sw) among others. She is now part of an incubator for the creative industries in Malmö, Sweden and is looking for ways to bring poetry into the everyday and ways to include the poet. She has a walk in Malmö with a yogi where guided breathing is combined with poetry during the walk, The idea is that the breathing gets us into a receptive space. "Poets have an important role in modern society because doctors can't talk to people about their souls, and religion often comes with another set of complications. The poet can still recognise the soul with impunity. The poet can say to the person: there is space here for all of you. It's an important role, even if it is undervalued."
