John Paul Murphy

About

A Scot, Glaswegian and Socialist, John Paul Murphy's heroes include Che Guevara, Noam Chomsky, Oscar Wilde, Pushkin and Dostoevsky. Fiercely proud of his working class background, John Paul Murphy is an advocate for the removal of cultural and institutional barriers designed and created to keep 'us in our place.' He dabbled in poetry when at University in the 90s but only really started writing with any kind of regularity during the COVID lockdown. Poetry is his favourite literary discipline, but he's partial to a wee short story and is currently writing a novel.

Connection to Glasgow

John Paul Murphy was born and has lived in Glasgow since 1978.
